During the Autumn term during play indoors there is usually a buzz of activity, children ‘doing’, building, acting and most of all talking, discussing and negotiating.
Everyday, we as adults have the privilege to observe the children at play and it becomes clear that children express a nee to move during the course of the morning from lively, active play to where they feel more anchored into an activity. One of the activities diring the first term is milling of different grains, seeds and nuts.

The harvest loaf is on the nature table, a sheaf of wheat and mice made by each child out of bread dough. The five year old children have started weaving on individual looms, these will become the front of a sleeping bag for a soft toy or dolly. Seed babies and Mother Earth appear with a warm blanket.
